The following is some of the donor's
intellectual history from early childhood until the present:
Elementary school (grades 1-6, age
6-12)
- 3rd grade: 2nd place in school
science fair with science project entitled "The Quiz Box - A Simple Computer".
- 4th grade: 3rd place in school
science fair with science project entitled "Using Red Cabbage Juice to Determine
Acidity".
- 5th grade: 2nd place in school
spelling bee.
Junior high school (grades 7-9,
age 13-15)
- 7th grade: 2nd place in school
science fair; invited to regional science fair, won 3rd place; invited to
state science fair, won 3rd place. Science project entitled "The Electrolytic
Capacitor". Also won Schaak Electronics award for best electronics project.
- 8th grade: placed in school, regional, and state science fairs;
won several other awards. Science project entitled "The Audio Amplifier".
- 9th grade: placed in school, regional, and state science fairs;
won several other awards. Science project entitled "The Superheterodyne Radio Receiver".
- 9th grade: won 1st place in junior
high school chess tournament.
High school (grades 10-12, age 16-18)
- 10th grade: placed in school, regional, and state science
fairs; won several other awards. Science project entitled "A Computer Program For Simplifying Boolean Expressions".
- 11th grade: placed in school,
regional, and state science fairs; won several other awards. Science project
entitled "An 8080 Based Computer".
- 11th grade: placed in 1st high
school in national math exam. Placed 15th in state of Minnesota on the exam.
- 11th grade: Admitted to one of
the world's top science universities without doing year 12 of high school.
Skipped year 12 of high school and went straight to university.
